Hiring the right candidate for the right job saves the company time and therefore pragmatically speaking, money. How does a company determine who the right candidate is? By several means which include ensuring that he or she has the right credentials and qualifications for the position.

Documents which the hiring manager may be found looking at are educational certificates, degree scrolls, testimonials from previous employers, character
references and reports of results attained in school.

Any one of these documents could have been manipulated or forged. If not
spotted, this could undermine the recruitment process and put the wrong person
in that position in your company.
